  	Mary Jean (Ralston) Barker, 88, of Glenville, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born August 21, 1924 in Gilmer County and was the daughter of the late Kline and Helen Ralston. Her late husband of 64 years, Donald E. Barker, preceded her in death on January 4, 2012. Mary Jean worked 24 years at Glenville State College before she became a kindergarten teacher in Ritchie County and before returning to Gilmer County where she retired with 16 years service. She devoted her life in teaching young children. Mrs. Barker was a member of the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and a lifetime member of the West Virginia Retired Teachers and Alpha Sigma Alpha. Mary Jean was a member of the Glenville Presbyterian Church, where she attended for 75 years. She served as Deacon, Elder, Clerk of the Session and Trustee. Mrs. Barker was a member of the church choir, Women of the Church, having served as its President, Secretary and Treasurer. She assisted in writing the History of the Church in 1997. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Glenville Presbyterian Church with Reverend Kenny Fisher officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment will follow services in the Stalnaker Cemetery of Glenville, WV. On-line condolences may be expressed at hardman-palettifuneralhome.com.
